Smart is the new PRETTY!!

Hi there and Happy World Card Making Day!
It is a dark, rainy, windy day here so we have been inside! The kids made a tent in the living room and I got to make a card with some new My Favorite Things goodies!

I used some new product as well as some older products (not really that old...only a few months!)
I started with this weeks MFT sketch

And for the background I used the just released "Proof Positive" die and cut it in white and just layed a piece of teal card stock behind it. (It is showing blue in the pic but it is a beautiful teal color).  Then I cut some scallop circles using a dark pink and an orange (showing yellow in the pic) (sorry it is a dark day here lol!) anyway, I then cut some flowers using the "gerbera daisy" dies. I cut a stitched panel for the back of the sentiment piece using the horizontal stitched strips dies (one of my favs) and then used the technique of partial die cutting to make the piece shorter but still getting the stitched effect all the way around! (Yes, I was very proud of myself for that!)
I embossed the glasses and the sentiment using versatile and clear embossing powder. The stamps are MFT "Geek is Chic" set, so cute!  My daughter just got glasses this year and she loves them so I thought this set was perfect! I cut around the glasses leaving a small white border and used glossy accents in the lens. I adhered the glasses and the sentiment using foam tape.
And that sums up that card!  I am working on a few more cards, but it's dinner time here, so gotta run!
Have a great day!

Meant To Sparkle!

Hello!  I have been MIA for a while!  I was busy with all of the kids end of the school year events and then my Gram got sick.  I was living with her taking care of her while juggling my kids around my husbands work schedule.  Then a couple of weeks ago my Gram passed away.  We were very close and had been all my life.  I will miss her terribly.
So, I am just trying to get back into crafting to keep myself occupied!

I made this card for the MFT sketch challenge.....

MFTWSC187

A closer look at the embossing....

I started this card with the background....I cut 1/4" strips of paper using the SSS Sweet treats paper pack and adhered the strips to a piece of computer paper on a diagonal and then used the MFT Blueprints 14 large stitched square and cut it. I adhered that to a grey card base.  I cut the rounded corner square from vellum and used the sequins stamps from the MFT "You were meant to sparkle" stamp set and embossed them using Ranger liquid platinum embossing powder. I used the scallop border from the same blueprints set and adhered it behind the vellum.  I cut a banner shape from grey and doll pink and punched two holes and tied with bakers twine.  I embossed the sentiments with white embossing powder and liquid platinum. I adhered the banner to the vellum and then adhered that with foam tape to the striped background.
I love working with a sketch...it gives me a starting point but also allows me to add creative touches.  I love how easy the MFT blueprints are to form cards!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I will be back later with a card that my daughter created yesterday!

You Make Life COLORfUL!!

Good morning!
Here is a card that I made for the My Favorite Things weekly sketch challenge!
I had bought this adorable stamp from MFT last month...the Pure Innocence Just The Way You Are.  I thought she was adorable with her little mis matched outfit, she reminded me of my daughter when she was younger!

I colored the image using Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I had colored her last month but wasn't sure how to turn it into a card and this months sketch was perfect!
I used colored embossing powder for the sentiment and love how it turned out! I embossed the purple banner and I used a dot stencil and salty ocean distress ink for the BG.  I love how mis matched...yet balanced this card turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Nautical Father's Day!

Hi there!  I had my son home with a nasty stomache bug after being up half the night violently ill.  So we had some craft time together and he was stamping some envelopes while I was creating this card for my FIL using this weeks MFT card sketch!  I loved this sketch and the fact that I was able to pull out some if my nautical goodies from a couple months ago!

I started with an A2 kraft card and then used kraft with the fishnet Cover -Up die-namics.  I cut an oval and inked it with tumbled glass distress ink and then cut the oval frame out of kraft and lightly inked the edges.  I used white card stock with the Making Waves die and the Sailboat dies and used distress ink to color all of the pieces.  I used fired brick, salty ocean, wild honey....I also used a confetti mask from Heidi Swapp to create some tone in tone stars.  I wanted the BG strips to match the sailboat scene so I just inked up some strips do it was a perfect match.  I used a SSS Father's Day stamp from their new release and just cut it in a banner and adhered to the front.
I added some die cut stars in the extra colored strips to the inside of the card.  I think that about sums it up!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Bright Future!

Good morning!
My daughter is moving up from 4th grade and going into the middle school (5th grade) in a couple months! She insists that it is a graduation and wants to have a graduation party! Sounds good to me! She has worked super hard and is so ready to move on!
So this card is for her "graduation"!

I started by using this weeks sketch from MFT!
I used a white 110lb card base A2 size and the new MFT "star background" stamp to gold emboss the stars.  The gold detail powder that I have is not really a true gold more of a muted gold, so I was a little disappointed, as I wanted a shiny gold, but it's ok!  I stamped the large sentiment (MFT "happy graduation")  and also hold embossed it. I adhered two thin strips of SSS doll pink cardstock on the top and bottom of the sentiment panel and adhered a 1 inch flag banner behind it using SSS mint card stock.
The star was a left over star from the new SSS release and is the "star parade" die. I also hold embossed it.  I added some gold thread and then used foam tape to raise the star!
For the inside I gold embossed another sentiment from the same graduation stamp set and added some pink stars using the same color card stock and the star parade die!
I had to take the pics in the sun in the grass to get the true colors I used!

And there you have it...a super pretty, simple and fun card!
It's amazing what can be done with a great sketch and awesome supplies! i am entering this in the card sketch challenge at MFT! Come check it out!

Glitter rainbow

Good morning! I have just loved seeing all of the different manufacturers new releases...Simon Says Stamp, Lawn Fawn and My Favorite Things are a few of my Favorites!
I recently ordered a bunch of stuff from MFT...they had the best nautical themed stamps and dies! I was super excited to get my package.....

That's just a few of the things I got and I can't wait to play with them....but with the kids on Winter break it has just been busy!
I ordered the MFT rainbow die (love it) and I was able to make this simple inlay rainbow card in about 10 minutes...maybe less! I needed a quick card for my cousin in college and I thought this would be perfect. Plus with all of the "white" snow we've had I thought it would be fun to do something colorful!

I inlayed all the colored rainbow strips into a white piece of cardstock and stamped the sentiment using the Avery Elle "handwritten notes" stamp set and adhered it to a piece of SSS Sea Glass cardstock! I added wink of stella glitter to the rainbow! The inspiration for this card came from Jennifer McGuire...a card she did a while ago showing the inlayed rainbow!  Now, I saved all of the pieces from all the colors I cut...but honestly I don't know if I can make a rainbow out of color order (ROYGBIV) but we will see!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

I am entering this in the ablognamedhero challenge...Roy G Biv make a rainbow challenge!

Chase Your Dreams

Hi there!  I had a wonderful time making this card...it took me all day with bits and pieces, but it all came together beautifully!
First off, I used a sketch from MFT - Get Sketchy challenge... At first when I saw this sketch, I didn't know where to go with it and I always like to incorporate MFT stamps into it (which I only have a few).  I finally grabbed my January SSS kit and got to playing!

I started by grabbing MFT wildflower stencil and chalk ink and started building onto the grey wood grain paper in the kit...Fancy Pants "Beloved" collection! I also used the triangle paper in the kit and cut a strip and then cut the triangles to form a sort of banner. I added a thin strip of grey and white stripe washi (from SSS Dec kit) and machine stitched it in.  I stamped the great quote on vellum and used some light pink embossing powder and then stitched that on.  I cut apart one of the Fancy Pants "Beloved" tickets (also in the kit) and used the washi to attach it to the top of the card and added a twine bow. I cut the end piece in half and stitched that onto the side of the card!  Then I used foam tape and adhered the tag to the base. The base is a standard card using the wood grain white paper in the kit!
I think that about sums it up! I love the direction that this card went and am off to upload it into this months sketch challenge at MFT!
I really do appreciate all comments and feedback...thanks for stopping by!!

****edited to add that I entered this card in the SSS Monday Anything Goes Challenge*****

You Make The World A Better Place...

Hello!
It is a beautiful, rather warm, Sunday here! How is the weather by you?
I have been loving to see all of the peaks posted from CHA and am excited to see all of the new beautiful and fun products!
Today I have a card that I made for my daughter for the MFT color palette challenge! The colors to use are none other than MFT's colors..pink, black & white! A favorite color palette of mine so this was easy!

Supplies:
My Favorite Things DC Vertical Greetings stamp set
Pink, white and black chalkboard cardstock
Martha Stewart circle doilie and butterfly punch
Two flower punches
Hero hues gems
Pink ribbon
Swirls cuttlebug embossing folder
Powder puff chalk ink

I love how the pink doilie just adds a bit of femininity to the card without standing out too much on the pink card base! I love the chalk look of the beautiful sentiment from MFT! I guess I should just say that I love how quick and easy this card was and am pleased with the outcome! Thanks for stopping by today!
